UX Problem

  • The experience is cluttered and difficult to navigate, especially across core reading flows.
  • Ratings are overemphasized, encouraging quick judgments over thoughtful reflection.
  • Discovery and tracking feel disconnected, making it harder to build a meaningful reading habit.

My Role

  • Conducted heuristic evaluation across key user flows.
  • Analyzed competing platforms like StoryGraph and Fable.
  • Mapped the full reading journey from discovery to post-read reflection.
  • Designed updated flows, interactions, and high-fidelity UI.

UX Strategy

  • Shifted the experience from ratings-driven to reflection-driven.
  • Simplified flows to make tracking and updating progress feel lightweight.
  • Designed private reflection prompts to support more meaningful engagement.
  • Improved hierarchy and readability across screens.

Execution

  • Journey mapping and friction analysis
  • IA restructuring and flow redesign
  • Wireframes and high-fidelity mockups
  • Exploration of a flexible, scalable UI system

Outcome

Created a more thoughtful and usable reading experience that encourages reflection, improves discovery, and reduces friction across the reading lifecycle.
